Jane Zhang and JJ Lin duet, Sound of My Dream 2
Sound of My Dream 2, episode 3
November 17, 2017, the third episode of Sound of My Dream 2, so many expectations for fans from the new coach of music talent show, Jane Zhang, and she, as usual, never betray her audience.
Li Ronghao
The mysterious coach of this third broadcast is Li Ronghao (李榮浩), singer-songwriter from Bengbu (蚌埠) in Anhui Province (安徽), well known to the audience and winner of a Golden Melody Award in 2013 in the category of “Best New Singer”.
Li Ronghao, also known to Jane Zhang’s overseas fans for having participated with Jane in 2015 at the third season of the lucky television format “I’Am at Singer“, is also a musician (guitar, piano) and a producer. His first studio album, “Model” (“Mo Te”) released in September 2013 with the Universal Music record label and had a nomination in the “Best Mandarin Album” category at the Golden Melody Awards 2014.
My other half
The track no. 5 from this album is picked up, re-arranged by Jane and brought up on the stage of Sound of My Dream 2 for this episode. The title is Lao Ban (老伴) which in Chinese means “My Other Half“. The piece is a heartbreaking love song dedicated to a consort, a life partner. Jane plays the song with piano accompaniment from Cui Di (造 音 崔 迪), musician, composer and producer, and great friend of the Dolphin Princess.
Wang Fei
This episode also offers us a wonderful surprise. Jane, in addition to her performance, collaborates with JJ Lin (林俊杰), historical coach of Sound of My Dream, performing as a support voice for the piece “Fleet of Time” (匆匆 那 年), hit song of Faye Wong (王菲) and theme song for the 2014 movie, of the same name, directed by Zhang Yibai (張 一 白).
Faye Wong, this his Cantonese name, known in the West as Wang Fei is a Chinese pop / rock singer and actress born in Beijing in 1969 with about twenty albums to his credit, six films for the silver screen and some television series. For the movie “Hong Kong Express“, also known as “Chungking Express“, she won the Best Actress Award at the Stockholm Film Festival in 1994.
Jane Zhang and JJ Lin: the duet!
Jane’s contribution to JJ Lin’s interpretation is significant. After the first part of the song, about 2:14 of the clip, Jane appears on the stage, keeping a few feet behind JJ Lin and singing a wonderful chorus voice that blends with JJ Lin’s magnetic vocal: a very great pleasure for the ears.
As pointed out by the show’s host, it’s the first time that two coaches of Sound of My Dream perform together on the stage and Jane says she is very happy for this possibility and hopes that the audience has been as excited as she is.
A big round of applause for to the arrangement, for the wonderful orchestra that in each episode plays live for the singers and for the choir. Here is the Pure Sound Premium version of JJ Lin & Jane Zhang’s song.
For anyone interested to hear “Fleet of Time” in the original version of Faye Wong here is the official music video

Lao Ban – Lyrics
shéi péi wǒ zuò zhí mí de jīngyú
zài rén hǎi zhōngyóu lái yóu qù shuō zìjǐ de yányǔ
shéi péi wǒ jiàn yǒnghéng de gùjū
zài suìyuè zhōng pǎo lái pǎo qù tài róngyì píjuàn
yī zhuàn shēn kěyǐ guī qù
wǒ yào zhǎo de yī zhǒng gǎnjué jiào shǔyú
yǒu méiyǒu chūnhuā qiūyuè xià chán dōng xuě bù huì sàn qù
yǒu méiyǒu yī guān shàngmén yī tǎng xiàlái bù zài lí qù
yǒu méiyǒu ài kàn de tiān ài tà dì dì wǒ àizhe de nǐ
péi wǒ měilì de lǎo qù
shìfǒu ànzhe shídài de guīlǜ
zài bēnbō zhōng shénme bùshì yīshà nà de wánjù
shìfǒu hái yǒu yǒnghéng de lǎo qū
zài suìyuè zhōng jiùsuàn zuìhòu zhǐ nénggòu chénmò
yībèizi méiyǒu kǒngjù
wǒ yào zhǎo de yī zhǒng gǎnjué jiào shǔyú
yǒu méiyǒu chūnhuā qiūyuè xià chán dōng xuě bù huì sàn qù
yǒu méiyǒu yī guān shàngmén yī tǎng xiàlái bù zài lí qù
yǒu méiyǒu ài kàn de tiān ài tà dì dì wǒ àizhe de nǐ
péi wǒ měilì de lǎo qù
shéi jiào wǒ hěn qīngchūn shéi jiào wǒ xiào

péi wǒ měilì de lǎo qù
Lao Ban – English Translation (The Other Half)
Who will accompany me to be a persisting whale
Saying my own language in the ocean of people
Who will accompany me to build an eternal home
Rushing in life make people tired easily
Just one turn can bring us back
I’m finding the feeling of belonging to someone
Are there, flowers and moon in spring and autumn, or cicada and snow in summer and winter, belonging to nothing but the season
Are there, stories of closed gate and sleeping, belonging to nothing but me
Are there, sky I love, ground I stand, you my love
Accompanying me to get older gracefully
Are we keeping pace with the rhythm of time
Rushing for toys that not even deserve a glimpse
Are there still songs lasting eternally
For the time when nobody wants to speak a word
No fear throughout your life
I’m finding the feeling of belonging to someone
Are there, flowers and moon in spring and autumn, or cicada and snow in summer and winter, belonging to nothing but the season
Are there, stories of closed gate and sleeping, belonging to nothing but me
Are there, sky I love, ground I stand, you my love
Accompanying me to get older gracefully
Who will call me a teenager, or make me laugh
Only you can make me feel less afraid to get older
There’s one day, flowers and moon in spring and autumn, or cicada and snow in summer and winter, belongs to everyday
There’s one day, stories of closed gate and sleeping, belonging to everyone
There’s one day sky I love, ground I stand, you my love
Will accompany me to get older gracefully
This is a great introduction!!!
ps:Lao Ban (老伴) Which in Chinese not only means ” Wife “. but also means “husband”
I think Ban Lao (老伴) can be translate into “the other half of my life”
