Jane Zhang and Madonna dancers: Forever!

“Forever” is the fourth single of the Jane’s album “The Seventh Sense” released in July 2014.
It’s a beautiful R & B song with music by Li Jiuzhe (李玖哲) and Jae Chong (정재윤), Korean author born in Los Angeles, and lyrics written by Jane Zhang and Xie Hua Fan (謝化凡).

The music video is directed by Muh Chen (陳奕仁) award-winning director who in his career has won a Golden Melody Award and 5 Golden Pin Design Award.

Forever MV: the concept

The concept of the MV is that everything goes by, but if you want, your love can be eternal.
In the story is shown a kind of love bank that existed for thousands of years in a crack spacetime and can preserve the love of every human being.

Jane, wearing a white dress and an amulet Cartier, advances slowly towards its entrance in front of a mysterious guardian whose appearance is that of a little blond boy.

The guardian opens the security door and carries Jane in a fantastic journey between deserts, floating islands, magical creatures and beautiful landscapes in which they find a mysterious castle, a great retro checkerboard, the Garden of Eden with also Adam and Eve, a tower with a clock and other surreal scenarios.

But now we come to the highlight of the video: the Jane’s dancers. They are nothing more than that the members of the corps de ballet of the Madonna’s concerts directed by dancer / choreographer Timor Steffens , ex fiance of the famous pop star.

Timor, some of you will remember him as a dancer in the US talent show “The Voice“, has worked, with Madonna, but even with Beyonce , Whitney Houston, Janet Jackson, Chris Brown, Usher and other big names of international pop music.

Furthermore Timor was one of 12 dancers selected for “This Is It Tour“, the concert of Michael Jackson that it would mark the his comeback but was canceled due to his untimely death. He was subsequently taken in “This Is It“, the documentary film on the last tour of the pop icon.

Recently Steffens, among other things, was judge in the Italian edition of “Dance Dance Dance“, together with Vanessa Incontrada and Luca Tommasini , of which he was co-creator of the format along with John De Mol.

In 2014, in view of the shooting of “Forever“, Jane went to Los Angeles to try the choreography with the famous choreographer and his dance troupe. During his stay in US she has dedicated to the rehearsal room eight hours a day doing just half an hour break and doing exercises early morning at the gym of the last floor of the apartment in Los Angeles.

Timor Steffens talks about Jane Zhang

On its website Timor tells the artistic experience lived with Jane :

“I think it’s important to put the feeling I get when I listen to music into the choreography I create to it. The music tells you what to do. Dance is the rhythm that you feel when you listen to music. For me that’s the kick of a choreography. Although sometimes it depends on the type of choreo I make. Every small detail makes a huge difference in each choreo. But in my opinion, the secret to a good choreography is to keep it simple and clean.

After my first meeting with the Chinese Pop Star Jane Zhang, I knew right away that we needed to work together. The excitement that she had, the focus and ambition to make this video next level gave me energy and made me excited to work with her. I could tell that she was very on top of her stuff and a perfectionist. I was really happy that she gave me the freedom to challenge her and push her to her limits.

When I started choreographing I wanted to give her some nice memorable grooves and give it a twist with some modern moves and contemporary lines to fit the look that the director had in mind. What made the music video really come alive was that I had some of the best dancers in this industry, that will kill any sort of choreography you will put on their path (meaning they are all round dance all stars!).“
