Ripercorriamo gli inizi della carriera artistica di Jane Zhang ritornando indietro nel tempo di 12 anni.
E’ il 26 agosto del 2005 e si conclude la seconda stagione di “Super Girl“, la competizione canora che vede Jane piazzarsi al terzo posto nella classifica nazionale finale raccogliendo 1.353.906 voti.

Il pubblico, i fan, le istituzioni

Il numero di telespettatori di quella puntata supera la stratosferica cifra di 400 milioni di persone.

Appena un mese dopo i suoi fan fondano il “Zhang Liangying Global Fan Club” ed il 22 agosto dell’anno successivo, nel 2006, il governo municipale di Chengdu, città natìa di Jane e terza metropoli per importanza nella Cina continentale, dichiara ufficialmente di voler investire nelle politiche culturali soprattutto in campo musicale e di puntare a tal fine sul contributo di cantanti e musicisti provenienti dalla grande città cinese identificando come artista di spicco proprio Jane.

Pochi giorni dopo, il 27 agosto del 2006, ad un solo anno di distanza dalla finale di Super Girl, Jane è già un’icona assoluta e lo si può vedere dal pubblico che raccoglie partecipando alla serata di celebrazione del 110° anniversario della fondazione dell’Università del Sichuan la cui sede è proprio a Chengdu.

In questo filmato dell’evento Jane canta “Walk Away” di Kelly Clarkson, brano inciso nel 2004 dalla cantautrice texana e pubblicato nell’album “Breakaway” che ne segna il successo a livello mondiale.

L’altra canzone interpretata sul palco è “Unrivaled” (天下無雙 – Tianxia Wushuang), la opening theme song scritta per la serie TV di grande successo “The Return of the Condor Heroes“.

Il concerto di Pasadena

Successivamente Jane interpreta più volte la hit di Kelly Clarkson e tra queste c’è il concerto del 31 marzo 2007 a Pasadena in California, al Pasadena Civic Auditorium.

In quel concerto viene accompagnata da artisti internazionali del calibro di Kitarō e Gavin Christopher con i quali negli anni successivi condividerà più volte il palcoscenico in Asia ed in USA.

Per l’occasione Jane sceglie personalmente i brani da portare e tra essi non possono mancare “What’s up” di Linda Perry, “I’ll Be There” cantata con Gavin Christopher ed ovviamente “Lovin’ You” di Minnie Riperton che durante la kermesse canora di Super Girl le valse l’appellativo, donatole dai fan, di “Dolphin Princess“.

Ad oggi sono circa 7 anni che la Dolphin Princess non canta più in pubblico Walk Away. Speriamo che venga introdotta nella scaletta di qualche nuovo concerto per poterla apprezzare con un audio ed un video di migliore qualità.
